What We Believe

The Bible is…

God’s Word to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the divinely inspired, inerrant, supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

{Exodus 24:4; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11, 89, 105; Matthew 5:17-18; John 5:39; 1Timothy 3:15-17; 1Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21}

God is…

The one and only living and true God; the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is one God in three persons without division of nature, essence, or being.

{Genesis 1:126273:22Psalm 90:2; John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 13:14Colossians 1:15}

Jesus Christ is…

The eternal Son of God who lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return to earth again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

{Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:22-23John 1:1-514:10-30; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-41 Corinthians 15:3-41 Timothy 6:14-15Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4: 14-15}

Holy Spirit is…

Fully divine and equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under his control daily.

{Genesis 1:2; John 16:7-14Acts 1:81 Corinthians 2:123:16Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Timothy 1:14}

Mankind is…

The special creation of God, made in the image of God to be like him in character. Although people have tremendous potential for good, we are marred by a condition of disobedience toward God called sin. This separates us from a holy and righteous God.

{Genesis 1:26-27Psalm 8:3-6Isaiah 53:6Isaiah 59:1-2; Matthew 16:26; Romans 3:23}

Salvation is…

By grace, through faith. It is a gift offered freely from God to all people. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. We are saved from sin’s penalty by trusting in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice as God’s offer of forgiveness. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We show our faith publicly through baptism.

{John 14:6; Romans 1:16-18; Romans 6:23Galatians 2:20; 3:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 2:11-14, 3:5; Hebrews 2:1-3}

The Church is…

An autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel. It exists to communicate the good news of new life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach his followers to obey his teachings, and to equip his followers for ministry. The church is made up of those who have placed their faith in Christ. It is also the Body of Christ that includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

{Matthew 16:15-19Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42, 47; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 2:19-22}
